My stay at the hotel was quite delightful. The room overlooking the river was spacious and comfortable, radiating old-world charm with a modern bathroom. Despite some quirky retro touches like a 60's radio and a 70's telephone, the room was pristine, offering a beautiful view of the Rhein. However, the price of CHF 200 per night for these curiosities may seem a bit steep. The service was a mix of friendly, helpful staff, albeit a bit clumsy at times. The location was serene and romantic, devoid of smoke, and being right on the Rhine River offered a wonderful view, particularly during sunset. The dining experience, while satisfactory, was a bit dull with a simple menu, although the view and home-grown products added a touch of authenticity to the meal.

Staying right next to the river, adjoining the hotel with a balcony onto the river was a unique experience. The hotel's location directly on the Rhein was stunning. The rooms were extremely outdated, but the view made up for it. The service was helpful enough, though not the warmest, but the laundry service and tour assistance were convenient. Being in the heart of the Old Town with the river passing by made the location superb, perfect for exploring Stein am Rhein attractions. The dining was simple but sufficient, although a more varied menu would have been appreciated. Overall, a stay with some rough edges but with a mesmerizing location.
